Marcus played his Junior Football in the  Eltham Panthers in the Northern Football Netball League junior divisions. Before starting his career in Football, he was a basketball player. Marcus played for the 1st basketball team of his college and won 2 premierships becoming the National School Boys Basketball champion.

In TAC Cup, he played for the Northern Knights. He started his career as a midfielder after coming to the team. In 9 games, he scored 15 goals the season. In the 2015 season, he improved himself greatly. He played for 28 disposals against Gold Coast, which was his career-high. He was named in the under 22 teams as a midfielder. Marcus passed his best time in his career in 2016. Marcus played for 33 disposals against Melbourne in round 8. He became the youngest captain of history to win a match for his team. The team won the 2016 AFL Final, which was their first victory in 62 years.

Marcus missed the 2017 JLT Community Series due to a minor injury. He was named as the Charles Sutton Medal that season and also the captain of the 22 under 22 teams. Marcus was named on the team back to back for four years for his brilliant performance. He was named the Vice-Captain of the team in the 2018-19 season. He finished the season with 15 goals and 606 disposals. In 2020, he became the captain of Bulldogs.
