College Career

Marcus Morris Sr. attended the University of Kansas, where he played for the Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team from 2008 to 2011.

He was a standout player for the Jayhawks, appearing in 109 games over his 3 seasons.

In his junior year (2010-11 season), Morris had a breakout campaign. He averaged 12.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.

Marcus Morris Sr. was selected by the Houston Rockets with the 14th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, 5 minutes after his twin brother Markieff was taken 13th by the Phoenix Suns.

He spent his first 2 seasons (2011-2013) with the Rockets, also having a stint with their G-League affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers during that time. 

In 2013, Morris was traded to the Phoenix Suns, where he played alongside his brother Markieff for one season (2013-2014).

Morris then played for the Detroit Pistons from 2015-2017 before being traded to the Boston Celtics, where he spent 2 seasons from 2017-2019.

In 2019, he was traded mid-season from Boston to the New York Knicks, finishing that season in New York. 

Morris signed with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2020 on a 4-year, $64 million contract. He played 3 seasons (2020-2023) with the Clippers. 

In February 2023, Morris was traded from the Clippers to the Philadelphia 76ers. However, the 76ers bought out the final year of his contract in November 2023.
