The Brit boxer had a brief yet successful amateur career of only 1 year. He won seven British titles and represented his country at the 1996 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships.

Professional Career

Hatton’s pro debut was in 1997 in the Light Welterweight division. He won the debut match by TKO in the first round against Colin McAuley.

He scored 10 constructive wins before winning the vacant Central Area Light Welterweight title.

In 2000, Hatton got the British Light-Welterweight title. The following year, he won the WBU Light Welterweight title.

From 2001 to 2004, he made a record fifteen successful defenses. In 2005, he defeated Carlos Maussa to Unify the WBA Light Welterweight titles.
