Here is the format of the Home Run Derby 2022:

  • There are three rounds in the single-elimination bracket format. In each bracket, the seed with the highest ranking goes first.
  • First and second-round batters will have three minutes each, with the final round batters having two minutes.
  • When the first pitch is thrown, the timer begins, and when it reaches zero, the round is over.
  • As long as the pitch was released before the timer reached zero, a home run counts.
  • To avoid any confusion, a round is declared over when the second player in a given round hits more home runs than his opponent has overall.
  • A player is under no obligation to increase his total.
