Intercity Baseball Tournament 2022

Intercity Baseball Tournament 2022 is going to start on July 18 at Tokyo Dome. Here, you will know every detail about the tournament.

The competition, which has been played on an annual basis since 1927 and is organized in collaboration by The Mainichi Newspapers Co. and the Japan Amateur Baseball Association.

The historic stadium in the Bunkyo Ward of Tokyo will serve as the stage for a competition showcasing the highest level of baseball played at the amateur level, with many players who are currently being considered for draft positions in the Nippon Professional Baseball as well as former professionals.

The vast majority of the teams are sponsored by corporations, and the majority of the players are also employed by these corporations.

The winner from the previous year was the huge gas business Tokyo Gas, which has its headquarters in the Japanese capital.

The competition is famous for its one-of-a-kind “reinforcement player system,” in which players can be called up from opposing teams that fought and lost in the same regional preliminary stages. This allows players from teams to compete against each other again.
