Davis’s pro season started in 2013. Davis had previously held the IBF super-featherweight championship, however, he was stripped of the title in 2018 after failing to make weight for a bout against Francisco Fonseca.

In 2018, Davis defeated Yuriorkis Gamboa to become the WBA (Super) super-featherweight champion. The following year, in 2019, Davis defeated Gamboa to become the WBA (Regular) lightweight champion.

“We’re ready, and we’ve been in camp,” Davis said,

“This isn’t our first time getting ready for ‘Rolly’. We saw how he choked up when the lights are in his face. We’ll see how he reacts when everyone is cheering against him on fight night.”

Romero made his pro debut in 2016. In August of 2020, he fought against Jackson Marinez and emerged victorious, taking the interim WBA lightweight championship. Romero competed against Anthony Yigit in their battle that took place in July.

Because Yigit failed to make weight, he was eliminated from contention for the interim championship. Romero knocked out his opponent in the seventh round with a technical knockout.

“The fight is not going to go 12 rounds,” Romero Said, “We do not need judges. We don’t even need a referee. I’m gonna beat the f*** out of him.”

The 26 years old boxing star initiated his amateur career in 2013 at only 18 years old, which consisted of 25 wins and 10 losses. Despite having a short amateur career, the gifted boxer gained the attention of Floyd Mayweather.

In December 2016, Romero made his professional debut. Davis vs. Romero Prediction:

Despite Romero’s claims that Davis has been outboxed and struck clean by every opponent, Romero allows the wider holes for Davis to take advantage of. As Romero goes for the fences with practically every punch, winding up and creating large spaces for the return fire, he is also often off-balanced in the process.

There’s no denying Davis’ superiority as a boxer and his superiority in raw power over Romero. It’s impossible to imagine a scenario in which Romero doesn’t catch Davis clean with a game-changing shot and then end the fight with a ferocious barrage of punches.

Prediction: Davis will win the fight with TKO.
