After a disappointing outing against Joe Joyce in November 2020, Daniel Dubois is set to make amends and bring his career back to the track.
The British boxer dropped to his next knee in the tenth round against Joyce, to suffer the only loss of his illustrious professional career so far. He was ruled out of action for a while due to a broken orbital bone and nerve damage around his left eye.
Now, Dubois is eager to make a strong statement against Romania’s Bogdan Dinu (20-2) and extended his win tally to 16. The Dynamite plans to have a shot at the WBA title later this year if thumps his Romanian counterpart.
A recent statement by the 23-year-old indicated that he’s willing to have a rematch with Joyce as soon as he can.
“I would love to fight Joe again. I think I could really do something and beat him. I really do want it, but time will tell what route we both take from here. I wasn’t losing by a ton and getting pasted, it was a close fight in my opinion, so nip and tuck, really,” Dubois remarked.
“I want to get back in that sort of level fight and beat someone of Joe’s caliber. We’ll see, I don’t know, only time will tell if it can happen. Right now, I am just excited about the comeback.
“I do want to have revenge and to put it right, but if I’ve got to take it out on someone else then, hey, Bogdan is there to get it, isn’t he?”
With 14 of his 15 wins via KO, Dubois is more of a knockout artist, unlike the Russian boxer. Dinu likes to prolong the fights and clinch victories on the decision. The 34-year-old has won only two of his staggering 20 pro fights via KO.
