Boxing’s only eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, has been scheduled to box IBF and WBC welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr.
Both boxers have taken it to their social media accounts to confirmed the match-up. This has, however, come as a bit of shock for the boxing fraternity who were hoping for a different opponent.
In the recent past, the likes of former UFC double champ Conor “The Notorious” McGregor, Ryan Garcia, Mikey Garcia, and Keith Thurman have expressed their desire to take on the boxing Hall of Famer.
But it’s Spence Jr who will have the opportunity before them. Pacquiao has a 72-7 win-loss record which speaks volumes of his greatness. The boxing legend has 39 victories to his name, but what worries his fans is his age. Pacquiao is 42 and the last time he fought was in 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic halted sporting events around the world. He fought and defeated Thurman in the first round.
The boxing veteran clinched the WBA (super) welterweight strap after winning via a split decision. However, the COVID-19 lockdown then took place and that did not favour the winner as Pacquiao was soon stripped off the championship belt due to inactivity.
On the other hand, Spence met a terrible accident in 2019 after bagging the WBC title via a split decision over Shawn Porter.
His fight against Porter is regarded as one of the best fights of 2019. After being inactive for nearly 15 months, the 31-year-old fought and dominated Danny Garcia from start to finish.
He won the December fight via the decision to remain the unified welterweight champion.

How can I watch Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence Jr?
In order to watch the two boxing juggernauts lock horns with each other, you can avail of the pay-per-view through Fox Sports’ Premier Boxing Champions.
He has been undefeated in his pro boxing career with a staggering 27 wins under his belt. As he braces for meeting a legend 11 years older and more experienced than him, Spence should be the favourite to win the contest.
Pacquiao will be an underdog entering into the event as Spence is more agile, younger, and has the stats to back him up. Spence has a better reach (72 inches) and he also enjoys the height advantage, being three inches taller than his opponent at 5’9.
Hence, the American boxing prodigy is likely to thump the Filipino counterpart in the coming fight and increase his tally of 21 knockouts.
