XO, Kitty in Seoul

Anna Cathcart’s portrayal of Kitty Song Covey, who had previously played a supporting role in the To All The Boys film series, becomes the protagonist in XO, Kitty.

Kitty’s acceptance into a prominent boarding school in South Korea sets in motion the events of the series, as she travels there in search of answers about her mother, her Korean background, and a chance encounter with her long-distance boyfriend, Dae.

Kitty’s arrival at the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS) throws a wrench into her well-laid plans, especially once she learns that Dae has been keeping a secret girlfriend from her.

Where was the Filming location?

The cast and crew of XO, Kitty filmed in a real school, although KISS is made up. Many of the outside shots were filmed at Uiwang, South Korea’s Kaywon University of Art & Design. The college wasn’t the only place that the film crew went to in Seoul; they also went to the Ssamzigil shopping mall, Gyeongbok Palace, and the neighborhood around Bukchon Hanok Village.

Korean Independent School of Seoul in XO, Kitty

There is no such thing as the Korean Independent School of Seoul, and it is not even a fictional institution. Instead, it’s a made-up institution for the XO, Kitty books.

Although the fictional KISS may not be based on a real boarding school, it is possible that the real-life Korea International School served as Jenny Han’s inspiration. The two institutions may have similar names, but they are unrelated.

Where You Can Watch Xo, Kitty
