Bilawal was appointed as the Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party following the assassination of former Prime Minister Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi.
After Benazir’s death, Bilawal’s father, Asif Zardari, assumed power.
During Zardari’s regime, Bilawal remained out of Pakistani politics and kept a low profile until 2017-18.
