Lalu Prasad Yadav Net Worth

Lalu Prasad Yadav, born on 11 June 1948, is an Indian politician. He is also the president of Rashtriya Janata Dal. He was the former Chief Minister of Bihar (1990-1997), a former Railway Minister for India (2004-2009), and a former Member (MP) in the Lok Sabha. As a student leader, he entered politics at Patna University and was elected in 1977 as the youngest member of the Lok Sabha of the Janata Party.

In 1990, he was elected Chief Minister of Bihar. In 2015, his party won the Bihar Legislative Assembly election as a partnership with Nitish Kumar (JD(U)).

The coalition was ended when Nitish quit and RJD became the opposition party.

RJD was the largest party in Bihar and held the power of the current government.

Lalu Yadav, who was convicted in the controversial Fodder Scam was sentenced and served a term that ended on 17 April 2021.

He was then granted bail by the High Court.

Early Life and Education

Lalu Prasad was the second son of his parent’s six children. He was born in Phulwariya (on Gopalganj–Kushinagar highway NH–27), in Gopalganj, district of Bihar, to Kundan Ray, Marachhiya Devi. After attending a local middle school, he moved to Patna along with his elder brother.

After receiving a Bachelor of Laws degree and an M.A. in Political Science, he continued his studies at the University of Maryland.

He graduated from B. N. College in Patna University with a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Arts in Political Science.

He then worked as a clerk at Bihar Veterinary College in Patna, where his elder brother was also a Peon.

Lalu Prasad is a Yadav member of the agricultural caste. In 2004, he declined the honorary doctorate from Patna University.

Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi’s husband, married Rabri Devi on June 1, 1973. They have 2 sons and 7 daughters.

Political Career

Lalu Prasad Yadav began his political career by participating in the elections for the Patna University Students Union.

In the 1970s, he led the student movement that Jayaprakash Narayan had inspired.

Satyendra Narayan Sinha, a senior leader and former Chief Minister of Bihar, placed him as a candidate for Lok Sabha. He also campaigned for him.

Yadav, who was 29 years old, was elected the 6th Lok Sabha member on a Janata Party ticket.

Lalu Prasad Yadav became one of India’s youngest members. He was a powerful force in Bihar’s State politics over the next ten years.

He led the National Front Coalition in Bihar in the 1989 General Election and State Assembly elections.

Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Chief Minister of Bihar between 1990 and 1997.

However, he was forced to resign due to corruption charges in relation to the Fodder scam. After separating from Janata Dal, he formed the Rashtriya Janata Dal in 1997.
