Casey Thompson, Texas Longhorns quarterback who is in the transfer portal. He started under coach Steve Sarkisian and played 10 games in the first season. Thompson played for 2113 yards and 24 touchdowns, also 9 interceptions. He started the season as the backup of Hudson Card but eventually ensured his place in the starting lineup.

He faced many ups and downs in 2021, but he showed his class in the match where he played 4 touchdowns in their 55-23 win over Colorado. Thompson said that he played with the sprained thumb on his throwing hand in his past six games.

But Texas Longhorns coach said that they need a backup at the quarterback position after their game against  Kansas State, “I think we have to open that job back up,” he said. Quinn Ewers, a former five-star recruit also announced that he will transfer to Texas. He was committed to Texas and was the number 1 QB in the 2022 class. “He’s a heck of a player,” Sarkisian said of Ewers on Wednesday after he signed with the Longhorns. “He’s a heck of a talent. I think there’s a big sigh of relief for him. I think this is where he kind of wanted to be. Now we start the process of the development of him in our system and with the players around him and see how far we can take it.”

After the Sugar Bowl win to start 2019, Casey Thompson has entered the portal for the second time. Thompson was ranked No. 14 dual-threat quarterback and No. 29 player nationally in the 2018 recruiting class. In 2019, he returned to Texas. The player suffered from injury this season many times.
