Two-time PSL champions Islamabad United will locks horns against Lahore Qalandars as the league resumes in June.
This is the first PSL match being played since the Pakistan Cricket Board decided to suspend the season in March. Qalandars are likely to triumph due to their ample experience of the T10 League.
Sohail Akhter, who leads the Qalandars, was the highest runscorer for Lahore in the shortest format of cricket.
He and Fakhar Zaman can demolish United’s average bowling attack if they resort to aggression from the get-go.
Players to watch out for
Rashid Khan is unarguable the best mystery spinner in the world as of now. His experiences in franchise cricket have made him a T20 asset for Afghanistan and any team he joins.
The leg-spinner is likely to bag the Man of the Match award against Islamabad United. He is currently the most economical bowler in the PSL, something that is familiar with the IPL fans who followed his antics this year for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Remember the Rutuaj Gaikwad dismissal?
Fakhar Zaman is in phenomenal form with the bat. Anyone who has followed Pakistan’s series against South Africa knows how lethal Zaman can be in the white-ball series. His ability to send the ball miles into the stands makes him a major threat for United.
He almost reached another double ton against the Proteas before a quirky Quinton de Kock ran him out. Zaman is likely to give a great start to Lahore and utilize the powerplay overs.
Speaking of left-handed power hitters, Australia’s Usman Khawaja is also likely to make it big on his PSL debut. He has immense Big Bash League experience under his belt, making him the backbone of United’s batting ahead of the Tuesday showdown.
