In cricket history, Michael is regarded as one of the greatest pace bowlers. In 1976, early in his Test career, Holding broke the record for best bowling figures in a Test match which record still stands.
Holding has spent almost 31 years working behind the microphone. Holding started his very first commentary on TV broadcast and that was England’s 1990 tour of West Indies. Before moving on to commentary Holding had played 102 one-day internationals, 60 Tests, and claimed 391 wickets and that’s why he is called ‘Whispering Death’.
Last year Holding claimed that “not too sure how much further than 2020 I will be going with commentary”, saying: “I cannot see myself going much further down the road at my age. I am 66 years old now, I am not 36, 46, or 56.” I told (Sky) that I could not commit to more than a year at a time. If this year gets destroyed, I might have to think about 2021 because I can’t just walk away from Sky, a company that has done so much good for me.”And this 2021 has been the last year of his commentary career finally.
Holding had a pacific style of commentary which attracts the listener. No doubt he was and is the legend commentator of cricket history. One of the best bowlers of all time and also a better human. He has shined both in his cricket career and commentary career. He started his career as a commentator in 1988.
