Mustafizur Rahman hit the first blow for Bangladesh. Finn Allen, the Kiwi opening batsman, was dismissed. New Zealand had high hopes for this opener. Finn Allen gave a good start in the first over. The cutter master took the wicket without giving any run in the first over. Meanwhile, New Zealand did not do very well in the power play in the first two T20s. They scored 18 runs for 4 wickets in 6 overs in the first T20. 26 for 2 in the second match. Today, the Kiwis lost 1 wicket for 41 runs from the first 6 overs.
After the first wicket fell, Will Young and Rachin Rabindra turned around. However, Saifuddin hit a double in the seventh over. The second-wicket partnership of 30 runs was broken in one of his extraordinary deliveries. Young, who scored 20 runs at first, returned with LBW. He then sent Colin D’Grandhome to the dressing room.
It was the 100th T20 of Mahmudullah Riyad. The Bangladesh captain took an opportunity to make the milestone match memorable. Rachin Rabindra returned to the dressing room as soon as he came to bowl in the first over.
After Mahmudullah, Mahedi Hasan also got the wicket of Kiwi captain Tom Latham. Before returning to the dressing room, he made 5 runs off 9 balls
The visitors lost 5 wickets in the middle of the innings. But then the Kiwi camp took the lead with the help of Tom Blundell and Henry Nichols. In the end, their innings stopped at 127 runs. Blundell was unbeaten on 30 and Nichols on 38.
Mohammad Saifuddin took the highest 2 wickets for Bangladesh. Mahedi Hasan, Mahmudullah and Mustafizur Rahman took one wicket each. However, Shakib Al Hasan was wicketless with 24 runs in this match. If he took a wicket, he would touch Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga, the highest wicket-taker in the International T20.
Naeem Sheikh made a good start by hitting two fours in the first over after batting for 129 runs. Bangladesh also got hope. But the Tigers lost the first wicket for 23 runs.
After two sweeps and hitting two fours Liton Das was not satisfied with that either. He went to play the big shot again with McConnie’s ball but didn’t understand the speed. Liton was caught. Before returning to the dressing room, he made 15 runs from 11 balls. Mehdi Hasan also returned after Liton. Henry Nichols took a great catch in the mid-on. Mehdi, who was uncomfortable from the beginning, came back with only 1 run from 4 balls.

Mahmudullah, the hero of the previous match, could not take responsibility for the team on this day. He returned by only scoring three runs. Besides, Afif Hossain seems to be finding himself throughout the entire series. Afif said goodbye with the first ball. The left-hander did not even notice how Ajaz Patel’s ball fell on the wicket and hit the stumps.
Nurul Hasan Sohan returned to the dressing room after hitting McConchi’s ball. Sohan returned with 6 runs off 11 balls.
After Sohan, Saifuddin also fell victim to McConnie. The Kiwi pacer’s LBW trap did not last long with the review. Saifuddin returned with 7 off 11 balls.
Mushfiqur kept one side in the procession of batsmen coming and going. He continued his innings till the last over. But the other side flew like a storm. Spinner Nasum Ahmed had also taken the path of Saifuddin. He was able to make only 1 run with 5 balls. Mushfiqur Rahim scored 20 of 37 balls and didn’t get out.
This was a much-needed win for team New Zealand, as they lost their first two games against the Tigers. This win will bring them the confidence to turn over and keep the hope of winning the series.
Bangladesh had a huge chance to win the innings in the third match. But the batting orders failed like a house of cards. The fans are hoping their team to be repaired and take the series in their favour in the fourth match. Will Bangladesh be able to do so? The fans will have to wait for that till the next match.
