The Multan Sultans vs Lahore Qalandars showdown is the 28th match of the Pakistan Super League that will take place Friday at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
The Multan Sultans vs Lahore Qalandars is a highly-anticipated showdown since this match will decide which team will go through to the next round of the competition.
The loser of the contest will not be seen off though. They will have to depend on the results of Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi.
Multan Sultans probable playing XI
Mohammad Rizwan (c & wk), Shan Masood, Sohaib Maqsood, Rilee Rossouw, Johnson Charles, Khushdil Shah, Sohail Tanvir, Blessing Muzarabani, Shahnawaz Dhani, Imran Khan, Imran Tahir.
Lahore Qalandars probable playing XI
Fakhar Zaman, Sohail Akhtar (c), Zeeshan Ashraf, Mohammad Hafeez, Ben Dunk (wk), Tim David, James Faulkner, Rashid Khan, Ahmed Daniyal, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf.
Sultans are likely to win the contest since they are in red-hot form. Rizwan’s men have been spot on with the ball and bat both. Shan Masood, Sohaib Maqsood and Rizwan are hitting the ball nicer than ever and hence, likely to go big against Qalandars.
Lahore have been excellent as well this season but their string of losses in the last few games have dented their sublime campaign.
Their lost loss to Karachi Kings marked their third consecutive loss in the last three games they have played. They will have to outsmart the Multans batsmen early on to have any chance of withstanding them later.
Players to watch out for
Leading a PSL side for the first time after seasons of warming the bench, Muhammad Rizwan has been above par in every department. Let is the captaincy or hammering opponents with his bat, the Multan Sultans skipper is in red-hot form.
Rizwan is the second-highest scorer in the PSL, just behind Pakistan captain and Karachi Kings opener – Babar Azam. He is likely to go ballistic against the Qalandars as well and fetch quick runs for his alongside Shan Masood in the powerplay.
Shahnawaz Dhani has been incredible in his debut PSL season. The right-arm quick from Larkana has been able to make it big with Multan Sultans by handing them breakthroughs in middle overs with his sheer pace.
The pacer has the most wickets in the bag (14) in only seven games. He will be the probable performer of the day against Lahore Qalandars tonight.
Shaheen Shah Afridi
Remember the bouncer to Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed? Shaheen Shah Afridi is the leader of the Lahore Qalandars’ pace cartel and he has been putting on a stellar show of pace bowling this season too.
The left-arm quick has already claimed 13 scalps in nine appearances. His early breakthroughs have helped Sohail Akhtar’s men put pressure on opponents in the powerplay and cripple their aim of reaching big totals. Afridi is likely to outplay the Sultans on Friday.
