Quetta Gladiators will play in-form Lahore Qalandars next at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Dubai in the 23rd game of the Pakistan Super League 2021.
When will Quetta Gladiators vs Lahore Qalandars start?
The highly-anticipated match will begin at 6 pm. It is the only game that will be played on June 15 (Tuesday).
Probable playing XI
Usman Khan, Saim Ayub, Jake Weatherald, Cameron Delport, Sarfaraz Ahmed (C & WK), Azam Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Khurram Shehzad, Zahid Mahmood, Mohammad Hasnain, Zahir Khan.
Fakhar Zaman, Sohail Akhtar, Muhammad Faizan, Mohammad Hafeez, Ben Dunk, Tim David, James Faulkner, Rashid Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Ahmed Daniyal.
The Abu Dhabi track has been a tad kind to the teams batting second in the tournament. Out of seven PSL games played at the pitch, teams fielding first have won four matches.
It is quite evident that the player stops gripping once it gets old. Thus, batsmen are able to middle the ball well. Spinners are likely to get assistance if they resort to drifts and straighter ones.
The average first innings score of the league is 162 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium so far.
Probable best batsman
Fakhar Zaman has led the charge for Lahore Qalandars this season. He has been in a golden touch ever since wrapping up the South Africa series before the start of the PSL.
The left-handed power hitter is Lahore’s highest scorer in the tournament and the league’s third top-scorer.
With 243 runs in seven games and an average of over 44, Zaman poses a major threat for all teams this season. The 31-year-old is able to provide a burst of run in the powerplay with the help of his captain Sohail Akhtar at the other end.
He is likely to go ballistic against the low-spirited Quetta Gladiators side that has been below-par with the ball in the entire competition.
Probable best bowler
Afghanistan mystery spinner Rashid Khan has weaved his magic in the handful of games he has played for the Qalandars. The leg-spinner has already notched two back-to-back Man of the Match awards since the PSL resumed in Dubai.
He has been Lahore’s most economical bowler (5.45) so far. The 22-year-old is the only bowler to have claimed a fifer in this year’s PSL. He is likely to continue his good form against the Gladiators on Tuesday.
The Gladiators have not shown any sign of resurgence after consecutive losses. After seven games played, Sarfaraz Ahmed’s men only have two points. The showdown against Lahore Qalandars needs Quetta to win the game if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive.
In order to qualify in the next round, Quetta have to win three upcoming three matches with a huge margin.
But it seems unfathomable to see how they can overcome a star-studded side like Lahore. The Qalandars are firm favourites for Tuesday’s game.
