GenG LCK Summer 2022

Even though Gen.G beat longtime rivals T1 3-0 in the LCK Summer 2022 finals, I don’t think any of the games were easy.

T1 looked the most fragile in game two when Lee “Faker” Sang-took took Renekton to mid against Jeong “Chovy” Ji-Sylas. Hoon’s The team put Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun on Morgana jungle, but Gen.mid G’s pressure from Han “Peanut” Wang-Sejuani ho’s and Son “Lehends” Si-signature woo’s Singed support was too much for Morgana to handle.

In games one and three, both teams had the same amount of gold, and it was up to either team to show up during important team fights around objectives. Gen. members G’s worked together and pushed their champions to the limit when it mattered.

GenG’s Team Should be Praised for Making it to the LCK Summer 2022 Finals

Game 1 was tied after 19 minutes. Gen.G had one dragon, whereas T1 had 0 kills.

After Cloud and Ocean, Infernal was a crucial buff. T1 started the dragon but lost control when it dipped below 50% health, allowing Gen.jungler G’s to claim it. Gen.G didn’t back down when Oner stole the boost. Sejuani and Aatrox bought time in a 2v4 with Stopwatch and World Ender. Choi “Doran” Hyeon-Aatrox joon’s survived despite being critically ill. At this point, all five T1 members had skills on cooldown. Park “Ruler” Jae-Zeri hyuk’s attacked as they tried to leave, killing all three.

This fight gave Gen.G a great tempo. They then got the first Baron and Infernal Dragon soul. Ruler’s Zeri finished with 16 kills and one death on one of his finest champions.

T1 wanted to stay in the series after struggling in game two’s pick. Thirty-three minutes into the game, they were only down 1,000 gold. Chovy’s Azir teleported back to Baron pit at total health after a fight that chipped both sides’ HP bars. T1 couldn’t see anything in the pit and be desperate to compete. Choi “Zeus” Woo-top je’s later teleported onto a Vision Ward beside a bush. The entire Gen.G squad stopped Baron before the channel could be built. Though his teammates were on the other side of the river, Zeus flashed away from them, isolating himself and dying for no reason.

Left 4v5, T1 did their best to keep their opponents under pressure. Oner’s Vi made a last-ditch effort to steal Baron over the wall at the back of the pit, while Faker’s Ahri went straight for Ruler. But T1 had no frontline without their tank Mordekaiser, which made Lee “Gumayusi” Min-Sivir hyeong’s vulnerable. Gen.G went straight down the middle lane with Baron buff to win the series 3-0 against the one team they had never been able to beat before. Before, they lost to T1 3-1 in the LCK Summer 2021 tournament’s semifinals and again in the LCK Spring 2022 tournament finals.

Ruler, Doran, Chovy, and Lehends just won their first LCK titles, so this is a massive win for them. Ruler won the World Championship with Samsung Galaxy in 2017, but he had never won a title in his home country until now. Gen.G and T1 have qualified for the 2022 Worlds, which will take place from September 29 to November 5.
