DC Comics fans everywhere were waiting desperately for a new Batman game. Remember when we were introduced to Arkham games? We loved traversing around an open world and running into iconic villains such as The Joker, Two-Face, and even got to play as Catwoman. When Gotham Knights was announced in 2020 during the virtual event called DC FanDome, fans were excited. As we saw artwork for Gotham Knights we wanted to know if it’s canon to the Arkham games. So, is Gotham Knights canon? Well…
Is Gotham Knights Canon to Arkham Games?
Short answer, no. Gotham Knights is not canon to the beloved Arkham Games franchise. It’s strange because it DOES tie into the game slightly by taking place when Bruce Wayne dies. Fans will remember that Bruce Wayne died at the end of Arkham Knight. In this game we’re going to be focusing on a group of individuals who are important in the DC Comics world. No, we’re not talking about followers of Ra’s Al Ghul or Two-Face. We’re talking about The Court of Owls who are assassins that have always been around Gotham lurking.
So, why is Gotham Knights not going to be canon? According to Warner Bros. Games Montreal Creative Director Patrick Redding they said:
“We wanted to be able to write the history of these characters with an original story without being tied to a particular continuity or feature set.”
Fair enough, Patrick Redding. Fair enough.
Gotham Knights is said to release October 25th. For more updates on Gotham Knights be sure to follow Surprise Sports. We discuss everything gaming and keep you updated on popular and upcoming titles.
