In 2010, FIFA announced that the 2022 World Cup will host Qatar. Since then they started to prepare their stadium for the world cup event.

The FIFA World Cup will take place at eight stadiums in Qatar and five cities. All the stadium work is complete by the end of 2021. The world cup tournament will start from 18 November to 22 December. It will be the first time Arab nations hosting a FIFA World Cup. The last time Russia arranged the World Cup and this time can Russia even attend the world cup is a big question.

Its capacity to hold an audience is 40,000. After the world cup end, they will donate 15,000 seats to the universities sports organization. The stadium pitch is at sea level so it makes the climate cooler.

Lusail Stadium

Lusail Stadium is the largest stadium in Qatar FIFA World Cup. It will be able to hold an 80,000 audience for the game. The stadium will host the final match of the FIFA World Cup 2022. They designed the stadium with light and shadow moods inspired by the Fanar lantern.

The stadium is made only for the FIFA World Cup. When the stadium work is done then it will be turned into a multiple-purpose community hub.

The Khalifa International Stadium

The Khalifa International Stadium is one of the oldest stadiums in Qatar. It was built in 1976 located in Al Rayyan. Previously, it has hosted so many programs like Asian Games, the Arabian Gulf Cup, the AFC Asian Cup, etc.

It expands its seat capacity to 40,000 for the FIFA World Cup. Plus, the stadium added a cooling system for the event.

Stadium 974

Among the eight stadiums, Stadium 974 is the most amazing and innovative creation. Its design is different from all other stadiums. It tells the Qatar relation, trading, and seafaring with the world.

The stadium is previously known as the Ras Abou Aboud. It is located on the shore across Doha’s West Bay skyline. It can provide 40,000 seats for the audience. The “974” number refers to the Qatar dialing code and to build the stadium they use a 974 shipping container.

Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium

Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium is located in Al Rayyan just outside of Doha. The stadium first has 20,000 seats and then it expands its seats to 40,000 for the world cup. After the event is done, they will again remove around 20,000 seats and will donate them to foreign countries for the well-being of their sports.

Al Thumama Stadium

Al Thumama Stadium is located 12km south of Doha. It’s one of the most important design stadiums that represents Qatar’s culture. The stadium is shaped like woven Gahfiya which is the headpiece of Muslim men worn by Qatar Muslim men. It also tells the depth of Arab civilization and its historical legacy.

The stadium is just several minutes away from Hamad International Airport. It has the capacity to hold 20,000 audiences.
