With a shattered heart we are starting our today’s article. The topic of today’s article is a very pathetic one. The news is about Jimmy Greaves’s death who passes away last Sunday. So, today we are going to provide a short discussion over his career and life so that we could respect him through this article and be able to let you know.

At the age of 81Jimmy Greaves died on Sunday, 19th September 2021. He suffered a stroke in May 2015 that forced him to depend on a wheelchair. Before that, he got a minor stroke.

Jimmy Greaves, born on 20 February 1940, was an English professional footballer and played as a forward. With 44 goals Jimmy has been England’s fourth-highest international goal scorer. In  1957, Greaves started his professional career at Chelsea.

Before spells at AC Milan, Spurs, and West Ham, Jimmy Greaves started his career with Chelsea. Where he scored 44 goals in 57 games for England and was selected as a member of the 1966 World Cup-winning squad.

Greaves remains the all-time leading scorer for Tottenham with 266 goals in 379 appearances. The great goal scorer Greaves started his career before Tottenham played in the Premier League against Chelsea.

Jimmy carried the record for most goals for Tottenham in the English top-flight with 357 and scored 266 in 379 matches. Jimmy was the very first player to lead scoring in England’s top league for three straight seasons.

Southgate said, “Jimmy certainly deserves inclusion in any list of England’s best players, given his status as one of our greatest goalscorers and his part in our 1966 World Cup success. I know the entire game will mourn his passing. His place in our history will never be forgotten. Jimmy was admired by all who love football, regardless of club allegiances.”

Looking back over Jimmy Greaves career:

In 1960-61, Greaves earned 41 goals remains a record in a season for Chelsea. Moreover, In 1962-63, he holds the Spurs record with 37.

After his retirement as a player, Greaves moved into a  successful career in broadcasting. During this period, from 1985 to 1992,  he had started to make regular appearances on TV-am. Moreover, during this period, he worked on a number of other sports programs on ITV that includes Sporting Triangles.

Harry Kane, The England captain and current Spurscentre forward described Jimmy as “a true legend”.

On the other hand OssieArdiles, the former Tottenham and Argentina midfielder shared, “Great player, great man,” he tweeted. “Very funny. Humble. Jimmy epitomizes what Spurs is: ‘To dare is to do.” by giving him a salute.
