In the final 10 minutes, the VAR awarded Man City a penalty after Dawson’s tackle on Gabriel Jesus in the box had gone all wrong. Riyad Mahrez took the spot kick and missed it! Man City let go of a golden opportunity to bag all three points from this match and it could turn out to be a crucial mistake in the final matchday.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw as both teams took one point.

Can Man City still win the League?

Man City can still win the EPL season 2021-2022 after dropping points against West Ham. The Citizens needed at least 4 points from the last two matches to be the English Champions. They have got one point against West Ham, meaning that a win in the last matchday (3 points) will confirm their league title.

Let’s check out the EPL Points Table after the 2-2 draw between Man City and West Ham.

Position Teams Played GD Points
1st Manchester City 37 72 90
2nd Liverpool 36 65 86

The point table says that the title race is still in the hands of the Citizens. If they win the last matchday against Aston Villa, they will gather 93 points. On the other hand, Liverpool can get 6 maximum points from two matches. So, they can gather 92 points.

If Pep Guardiola’s men draw the final match, they will get 91 points. And 2 wins for Liverpool will bag them 92 points.

Long story short, Man City cannot afford drawing the final game if they keep the title race in their hands. Man City will be the English Champions if they win the next game against Aston Villa.
