Each year, Champions League is exciting. And we can’t help but talk about this year’s ongoing exquisite scenario of the Champions League. Two of the biggest power forces in Europe, PSG, and Manchester City went head on head in the Champions League Semifinal first leg on Wednesday night! Don’t worry if you missed the game, we’ve got you. Make sure you make it till the end!
Let’s take a closer look at the exciting draw, just as it happened!
Both PSG and Manchester City are thought to be the richest clubs today. Consequently, they have some of the best players on the planet featuring in their line-ups. Indeed, it was going to be a treat to watch. We have a tactical genius of Pep Guardiola and a captain like Kevin De Bruyne at one side, while a magical duo of Neymar and Mbappe was leading Paris from the front under brilliant Mauricio Pochettino!
PSG got enormous quality in their team and they illustrated that as the draw commenced. The possession belonged to Parisians testing Guardiola’s side. And it didn’t take PSG long to take the lead at Parc des Princes. In the 15th minute, Di Maria’s brilliant corner found Marquinhos as the skipper fired a header in the back of Manchester City’s net. The game went on 1-0 in favor of Paris till halftime, with City trying to create attacking threats till the end of the first half.
Guardiola is a man for big stages! Manchester City came out in the second half looking altogether a different side, with the hunger to turn the tables around and that’s what they did! A display of complete beautiful football from the British side. It was in the 65th minute when we saw a spectacular goal from De Bruyne himself, he delivered a cross from outside the box which went straight inside the bottom corner spinning, making it impossible for Keylor Navas to reach the ball! And that’s not it, Manchester City was at the peak of their powers, they wanted more and they got more, as Riyad Mahrez gave his team a crucial lead with a beautiful free-kick in the 70th minute. Manchester City got the job done with two important away goals!
PSG got reduced to 10 men as Idrissa Gueye saw a red card for a brutal challenge on Gundogan. The thrilling game ended with PSG trailing 1-2 to Manchester City!
Summing up Champions League First Leg:
While it looks like Manchester City is already halfway in the Champions League final, but they won’t get it easy as the night before in Madrid, Chelsea faced Real Madrid and they also got an away goal against Los Blancos on Tuesday night and the match ended as a draw. It’s heating up as we all await the second leg of the Champions League semifinals.
In the beautiful game, nothing is certain. Will PSG turn the situation around at Etihad Stadium? By all means, they can, they’ve got all the essential ingredients but it won’t be an easy task as Pep Guardiola’s side is simply brilliant!
Anyway, that’s it for today folks, thanks for sticking till the end. Stay tuned!
