According to Mundo Deportivo, the Chelsea star is set to arrive imminently. The medical and contract signing should be on Monday and Tuesday.
He has been the top target for Barcelona to provide competition to Jordi Alba’s position. Marcos Alonso will be the sixth major signing for the Blaugrana in the summer transfer window. They have been successful in landing Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, Raphinha from Leeds United, Franck Kessie from AC Milan, Andreas Christensen from Chelsea, and Jules Kounde from Sevilla.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Marcos Alonso has agreed to personal terms with the club. It will be a two-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months. What now remains for the deal to be finalized is for the two clubs to reach an agreement over a transfer fee. The agreement could be done very soon as Chelsea already signed the replacement Marc Cucurella from Brighton.
Barcelona wants to pay around €8m for the 31-year-old defender Marcos Alonso. The Spaniard’s current contract with Chelsea runs out in less than a year and Chelsea could lose the player for nothing. Marcos Alonso was not in the Chelsea squad for their Premier League opener against Everton. The player asked to stay out of the game to avoid injury risk. The Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed, “Marcos Alonso has asked me to leave and we agree. It didn’t make sense for him to play today.”
