Lionel Messi has just signed a two-year-long contract with Paris St-Germain (PSG) after announcing his exit from FC Barcelona last week.

The news of Messi leaving Barcelona came to his fans as a blow. While the news was still making rounds in the media, Messi decided to break another one for the football junkies.

“I am impatient to start a new chapter of my career in Paris. The club and its vision are in perfect harmony with my ambitions,” said the legendary star.

One of the greatest footballers the world has ever witnessed joined Barca as a teenager and since then has been making and breaking records of all sorts for the club. He scored a record 672 goals in 778 games for the club in his journey of over 20 years.

The La Pulga Atomica is all set to achieve higher goals in collaboration with a brilliant team. “I know how talented the players and staff are here. I am determined to build, alongside them, something great for the club and for the fans. I can’t wait to set foot on the Parc des Princes pitch,” said Leo.

PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi greeted Messi with a warm welcome in the team. He told the press, “I am delighted that Lionel Messi has chosen to join Paris St-Germain and we are proud to welcome him to Paris, with his family.

Messi’s previous deal with Barca expired on the 1st of July. The club could no longer afford him due to the wage limit restriction put by La Liga. However,  it was still anticipated he would not leave the club.

To everyone’s dismay, the club confirmed last week that Messi would be leaving Barca because of “financial and structural obstacles”.

He broke down during a news conference on Sunday admitting that he did not want to leave Barcelona, but had no choice.

The president praised the legend’s spirit to keep improving himself by saying, “He did not hide his desire to continue to evolve at the highest level and to win trophies. The ambition of the club is of course identical.”

“The addition of Leo to our world-class team confirms the relevance and success of our recruitment. Together with our great coach and his staff, I look forward to seeing our team make history for all of our supporters around the world,” said the PSG president.

The fierce striker has bagged the Ballon d’Or record six times and won 35 trophies with the Catalan club.

Messi is expected to make his PSG debut at home to Strasbourg on Saturday. He will be seen wearing the number 30 shirt for his new team. Messidona will be playing in a front three with the two most expensive players of all time – Neymar and Kylian Mbappe as teammates.

Preparations for a PSG news conference are also in process. The conference will take place in the auditorium of the Parc des Princes on Wednesday at 10:00 BST.

The 24 month deal also has the option of being extended to the third year. But, only time would reveal how it all goes between the two parties.
