Romelu Lukaku will be returning to Inter Milan after the Italian giants reached an agreement with Chelsea about a loan fee of 7 million pounds.

After leaving San Siro for £100 million last summer, the Belgian player had a hellish ten months at Stamford Bridge after he arrived there after leaving there.

Lukaku was emphatic that he wants out of Stamford Bridge this summer in order to play frequently ahead of the Qatar World Cup later this year. Discussions between the two clubs came to a close on Tuesday, with Lukaku stating his desire to leave.

It is agreed that Inter will cover all of his salaries. But they will be under no obligation to purchase him either during or after the loan period they have granted him.

Only eight of Lukaku’s Premier League appearances resulted in goals scored by him.

After giving an unsanctioned interview in the fall of last year in which he criticized his team’s methods and said that he’d love to move back to Inter, he also ruined his relationship with the fans of Chelsea and with their manager, Thomas Tuchel. This damage cannot be repaired.

One of the things that we should have learned from the Lukaku debacle is that there are times when doing nothing and waiting can be just as astute as acting. On social media, obviously, something like this would never be tolerated.

The Italian tabloid Gazzetta Dello Sport reports that Lukaku became emotional on Tuesday when his lawyer Sebastien Ledure informed him that a breakthrough had been made in negotiations between Chelsea and Inter. The negotiations were taking place between Chelsea and Inter.

It was a result of talks reaching a stalemate the previous day, on Monday, due to an attempt by Inter president Steven Zhang to restructure the transaction. However, Lukaku will have a medical examination at Inter the following week in order to finalize the transfer.
