The British Open total purse is announced to be the highest in its glorious history. The total purse is a whopping $14m which is 22 percent more than the previous edition. It will be 60 percent more than 2016. The winner will take away a lucrative $2.5m.
Martin Slumbers, chief executive of the R&A, said, “There have been significant changes in prize money over the last year. We have made this substantial investment while balancing our wider commitments to developing golf at all levels around the world and to continuing to elevate the AIG Women’s Open.”.
