The 2021 Ryder Cup will start just after an hour. This is one of the most anticipating events in sporting history. The golfers from the USA and Europe will face each other at Whistling Straits to determine the winner of this event. It was first started in 1927.

The team USA has the world’s best players in their team. But they have failed to dominate in the tournament. They always lack team spirit. This year, team America is a combination of youth and experience. Eighty of the top 10 golfers are on the team America’s side. They have kept 6 rookies in their 12-member team.

Ryder Cup Day 1 Preview:

Captain Steve Stricker plans to use the rookies. They will do anything to give their best to prove themselves. Three of them are Olympic gold medallist Xander Schauffele, British Open champion Collin Morikawa and FedEx Cup winner Patrick Cantlay.

“We come with a lot of enthusiasm and energy, young guys willing and ready to learn. We are not coming with bad experiences. I see that as a positive. Our guys are super fired up and ready to go,” said Steve Stricker.

On the other hand, Team Europe has the most experienced Ryder Cup players, Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, Rory McIlroy, and Lee Westwood. In team Europe, three rookies have been picked by Captain Skipper Padraig Harrington from the 2019 British Open champion. They are Shane Lowry, Bernd Wiesberger and Viktor Hovland. In this year’s Ryder Cup, team Europe is the clear underdog, as only four of them are from the top-25 in the world.

The team Europe has won nine of the past 12 editions. including three of the past six, America’s home ground, they have won three of last six games. At Whistling Straits, there is the presence of strong wind. That can cause a problem for the players.

Europe Captain Harrington said “You have got to hit wind shots. You have got to keep the ball down at times. You have got to aim off into trouble and trust the wind is going to take it back. Nobody wants it too windy. That’s not conducive to a good, fair battle, but a bit of wind is a true test of golf,”
