The prize pool for the 2022 US Open has been set at $12.5 million, with the winner receiving a payout of $2,250,000. This is the regular 18 percent payout outlined in the US Open’s prize money distribution chart.
The Players Championship, which is famous for having the highest reward in the industry at $15,000,000, was the only competition on the 2020/21 schedule that offered a larger prize fund than any other event.
This year, the total prize money up for grabs at The Players Championship, The Masters, and the PGA Championship was a staggering $20,000,000, while The Masters’ prize money was upped to $15,000,000.
As a result of the increases to those three events and in comparison to 2021, it appears likely that the absolute minimum prize purse for the United States Open Championship in 2022 will be fifteen million dollars.
