Course
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon, a world-renowned race, begins and ends in Grant Park, making the surrounding area a hub of activity.
The 26.2-mile course weaves its way through 29 distinct neighborhoods of Chicago, stretching north to Wrigleyville, south to Bronzeville, and west to the United Center.
For those not participating in the race or cheering on runners, the course map can serve as a guide to areas affected by parking restrictions and street closures.
Parking restrictions along the course will be enforced from 1 a.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2023. Streets along the route will be closed between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with longer closures in Grant Park.
As the last runners pass through (maintaining a pace of 15 minutes per mile), streets will gradually reopen.
Chicago Marathon 2023 Time
The race day begins early, with the men’s marathon wheelchair start at 7:20 a.m. CT, followed by the women’s marathon wheelchair start at 7:21 a.m. CT.
The marathon handcycle start is at 7:23 a.m. CT. The first wave of runners (red) starts at 7:30 a.m. CT, followed by the second wave (blue) at 8:00 a.m. CT, and the third wave (orange) at 8:35 a.m. CT.
The course time limit is 6 hours and 30 minutes, after which the course will re-open to vehicular traffic.
