Great Manchester Run 2022: Schedule, Routes, Live on TV, Coverage

The race is considered to be one of the most important in Europe, and the BBC will provide live coverage of all of the action. Throughout the day, there will be live music performed at eight different entertainment zones, in addition to, of course, the sound of thousands of spectators cheering on the competitors.

The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 22, with several start times spread out throughout the day. Participants in the 10k race, which is shorter by 6.9 miles compared to the half marathon, will have the opportunity to take in the sights of Old Trafford as well as The Lowry and the award-winning Imperial War Museum in Salford Quays.

The course of the half marathon takes runners through both of the famed football stadiums, and it joins the path of the 10k in passing past the set of Coronation Street in Salford Quays as well as Beetham Tower, a skyscraper with 47 floors that will serve as the finish line.

On Saturday, just a few of the roads will be blocked, but on Sunday, there will be a much greater number of routes that are closed. Those who are planning to attend Manchester City’s season finale versus Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium, which begins at 4 p.m., may also be impacted by this.

Two half marathon groups start at 8.30 am BST, while 10k runners start between 11.30 am BST and 12.47 pm BST.

The 13.1-mile circuit begins on Portland Street in the city center and ends at Etihad Stadium. Once they reach the stadium, they’ll return to the city center, Piccadilly Station, and Oxford Street. Runners will pass Old Trafford and the Imperial War Museum, Salford Quays, at 10 miles.

From Portland Street, runners go southwest to Old Trafford. Old Trafford and Media City are the 10K’s midway point. The last kilometer brings runners along Chester Road A56 to Deansgate.
