UFC 280 Preview
Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev
It’s all set for a thrilling fight between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev at the “Fight Island”. These two fighters have been on magnificent runs looking to carry the momentum.
Oliveira (33-8, 1 NC), nicknamed “Do Bronx”, beat Michael Chandler at UFC 262 to win the lightweight belt. At UFC 274, he beat Justin Gaethje but was stripped of his belt due to missing the weight class. On an 11-match winning streak, the 33-year-old Brazilian will look to reclaim his title tonight.
However, Islam Makhachev will be up for the challenge and is on a 10-match winning streak. Makhachev won his last fight against Bobby Green via TKO in February. The 31-year-old Russian has an impressive 22-1 record.
Aljamain Sterling vs TJ Dillashaw
Also, in the main cards of UFC 280, Aljamain Sterling will defend his bantamweight belt against TJ Dillashaw.
Sterling (21-3) “The Funk Master” is on a 6-match winning streak. He won against Petr Yan via disqualification following an illegal knee from Yan in the bantamweight title match in 2021.
The 33-year-old American defended his title in a rematch against Yan in April.
The former bantamweight champion Dillashaw (18-4) returned to action in 2021 following his ban in 2019. Dillashaw beat Cory Sandhagen via a split decision in his return.
