Last year, a lot of the pundits and basketball chatter had the Miami Heat facing off against either the Milwaukee Bucks or the Phoenix Suns in the finals. We all know now that that didn’t happen, with the Golden State Warriors coming from behind to show everyone why they’re still one of the hottest teams in the league.
The NBA playoffs won’t start until April 2023, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start considering placing your future bets for the playoffs now. Placing a futures bet at BetMGM Michigan or one of the other major sportsbooks lets you lock in who you think has the best chance of making it all the way. Oftentimes, it’s also a great way to get better odds on who will make it to the final –if you’re willing to accept the risk that the team you back might lose a star player to injury or just stumble somewhere during the season.
If you want to get involved but aren’t quite sure about which teams seem likely to make it through the regular season with the best records, we can help. Here are our predictions for which teams from each division will make it to the playoffs.
Atlantic – Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics had an amazing season last year and came so close to beating the Golden State Warriors in the finals that it was a nail-biting end to the season. They are hungry to turn last year’s near miss into a win.
Central – Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks are a powerhouse who have shown their ability to beat teams that should outplay them. It’s impossible to ignore the impact that Giannis Antetokounmpo has on the team and on shaping the league as a whole.
Southeast – Miami Heat
The Miami Heat had a very hot season last year, becoming the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, something that has only happened four times in franchise history. Head coach Erik Spoelstra has been providing consistent leadership, and now he just needs to make sure his roster is as balanced as it can be to protect his star players from over-exertion.
Northwest – Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets are ready for an NBA title. They’ve been steadily improving over recent seasons, and with Nikola Jokić looking better than ever, they will be a hard team to beat. No one else in their division can match their energy and drive.
Pacific – Golden State Warriors
If the Golden State Warriors take the title in 2023, it will be the second time in recent history that they’ve won it in consecutive years. That’s the kind of record that can spur a team on to outperform even their own expectations.
Southwest – Memphis Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies don’t generate as much interest as most of the other teams on our list, but that’s an oversight because they are as fierce on the court as their namesake is in the forest.
