The field for the Kentucky Derby in 2022 will compete for a total payout of $3 million, with $1.86 million going to the team of the horse who finishes up in the winner’s circle draped in roses at the conclusion of the race.
Ten percent of the winner’s purse will be awarded to the jockey who successfully crosses the finish line first; this corresponds to a $186,000 payoff before taxes and other expenses.
