Arsenal took the lead early into the match when Nuno Tavares scored in the 3rd minute. A deep cross from the left side flew in, which both Telles and Varane failed to reach. Saka got the ball at the far post and tried to curl into the left corner, which De Gea made a brilliant save, only for an easy tap-in chance for Nuno Tavares. The Gunners full-back made no mistake to put the ball into the nets, making it 1-0 for the home side.

Arsenal extended their lead from the penalty spot 32 minutes into the match. Bukayo Saka was fouled by Telles inside the box, who stepped up to take the penalty. The English forward sent De Gea the wrong way to make it 2-0 in favor of Arsenal.

However, Manchester United pulled one back after just 2 minutes and it was none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. Matic found too much space on the left for a nice cross to Ronaldo. The Portuguese forward was too good to miss that ball; fired it into the nets for making it 2-1 goals.

The match lived up as both sides had opportunities. Manchester United were awarded a penalty in the second half after Tavares had fouled Matic inside the box. Bruno Fernandez stepped up and hit it into the bottom left post for an awful miss. The Red Devils wasted the opportunity to level the match and to get a spot in the top 4. In the 70th minute, Granit Xhaka sealed the match for the gunners, making it 3-1 for Arsenal.
