Bangladesh T20 Against Afghanistan

Bangladesh is keen to win the two-match T20 series against Afghanistan with a monumental start on Thursday.

Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah vowed that they are keen to make a tremendous start in the two-match T20 series against Afghanistan with quality cricket that is starting at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.

‘Expectation is of course to win. T20 is such a format where anybody can win on any particular day therefore we need to play quality cricket and we are focusing on that.’

‘We are also focusing on our start if we can do that hopefully, we can build on it,’ told Tigers’ skipper in the presser on Wednesday at the SBCS.

Bangladesh have been undergoing a winless streak in the T20Is since the ICC T20 World Cup that continued till the Pakistan series in December 2021they encountered last.

That meant the Russell Domingo charges have conceded straight-eight defeats in this format where the pivotal role was played by the top batters.

Ahead of the T20 clash against Afghanistan, there are some wobbling in the country’s cricket fraternity that the hosts might face the same fate if the top orders batting storyline remains unchanged.

However, Mahmudullah believes that top orders shouldn’t be accused of the incessant debacle in the shortest of the cricket rather middle orders alongside the bowlers must step forward to produce some superlative shows to overcome the owes.

‘I always believe in batting with an intent, positive approach, and fearless.’

‘At the same time, bowlers must have the same attitude so that we would be in the upfront for taking wickets that will guide us to win in the game.’

‘Somedays top order will fail therefore our middle order should come upfront while somedays top order will play well and middle-order needs to build upon it.’

Tigers selection panel who declared a 15 man squad for the series have included Munim Shariar due to his glowing show in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League.

Munim Shariar who played for Fortune Barishal bagged 178 runs at a strike rate of 152.13 in six games that pushing the team management to make a spot for him in the playing XI.

However, the Tiger skipper couldn’t promise in this connection.

‘There is a chance for Munim Shahriar however I couldn’t say exactly as we will plan our batting order according to the wicket that I have overseen today..’

The match will start at 3 pm and BTV, GTV, T-Sports will televise it live.
