Tiger senior duo Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal have been included in the Bangladesh Test squad against South Africa starting on March 31 at Durban while Khaled Ahmed made his maiden one-day call.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has named an 18-man squad for the two Tests against South Africa where they have included Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal while axed Mohammad Naim and Fazle Mahmud respectively.
In the 16-man one-day set-up the selection panel has included Khaled Ahmed who has been named in the Test side so far.
Shakib Al Hasan who played his last Test against Pakistan on November 2021 and was expected to make himself unavailable in the Test series against the proteas due to IPL commitment has returned to the squad after the franchises of the Indian Premier League showed their unwillingness to rope in the auction held in the early part of February.
Tigers’ one-day skipper and the highest run-getter Tamim Iqbal played his last Test against Sri Lanka in April of the same year.
The Tigers are scheduled to play three-match one-day internationals on March 18, 20, 23 at Centurion and Johannesburg respectively.
Test series has been scheduled March 31 to April 4 and April 8-12 at Durban and Port Elizabeth respectively.
Touring Bangladesh is expected to arrive in South Africa on March 12 to take part in the series.
The Test side is expected to hold a weeklong training session at the Gary Kirsten Cricket Academy ahead of the Test series at Cape Town.
