The BCB is all set to sit with Mustafizur Rahman to know his plan regarding playing in Test cricket.
Bangladesh Cricket Board will hold an in-person meeting in short with the Tiger left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman to learn about his Test for the longest format of cricket as the team management wants him to play in this format of cricket.
‘We will talk to him about red-ball cricket as there is hardly any strict bio-secure protocol in place in the present days,’ BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters.
He added in forth that the Bangladesh national team coaches started feeling that he needed to play in the Test; therefore, they are eying to sit with him.
‘The management and the coaches feel that Mustafiz should play red-ball cricket. We will talk with him and have a discussion on this matter,’ Jalal Yunus added.
‘Suppose we want to play a pace bowler in a Test, and if he thinks that it will put pressure on him and we can play him by managing his workload, then we will do it.’
Earlier, the Tiger cutter specialist opted out of the Test contract in 2021 when BCB decided to introduce a format-wise contract as he was not comfortable with the bio-secure protocol.
However, the Tigers cricket administration thinks that this is the right time to sit with him and know if he has changed his mind as the Covid protocols have been relaxed freshly and not that much strict as earlier when players used to stay at home for days to complete the formalities prior to entering the team hotel ahead of an international task.
Since the debut of Mustafizur Rahman back in 2015, he took part in the 14 Tests while Bangladesh played 39 Tests during the stint.
The southpaw has missed out on seven Tests after the BCB opted not to include him in the Test contract responding to his insistence.
