Canada’s Bianca Andreescu had never made it past the first round at Wimbledon. But this time she won her first match against Emina Bektas 6-1, 6-3. The match was held on Monday in London.
Andreescu is ranked 56th in the world. Taking advantage of the 224th racket by scoring five breaks on 10 occasions.
She also managed 28 winning shots against only nine direct fouls. Unlike her opponent’s 11 winning shots and 13 direct fouls.
The 22-year-old Canadian will have to find her rhythm in the service. She could not put more than 52% of her first balls in play.
But, its success rate has been exceptional, with 91% success on such occasions.
She only offered one opportunity for breakage to Bektas, who converted her.
Andreescu made an appointment with the 17th favorite of the competition. Kazahke Elena Rybakina, who defeated the American CoCo Vandeweghe 7-6 (7/2), 7-5.
