Jake Paul, a YouTube boxer who criticized Conor McGregor’s technique. It has been dubbed a “jackass” by the UFC star. McGregor is presently recovering from a fractured leg sustained in his third fight against Dustin Poirier last summer. Last Monday, he put on a pair of boxing gloves and shared a video of himself striking pads.

McGregor’s tactics were dubbed “embarrassing” by Paul. He joined in his criticism by former UFC champion Henry Cejudo. Paul, who has a 5-0 professional boxing record, has long feigned interest in a battle with McGregor, claiming he would knock him out.

“Your chin wide open with no head movement for the PRBLM CHILD right hand of God.”

Jake Paul said, “I would KO Conor in boxing or MMA. The right hand of God.”

McGregor had been hesitant to communicate with the 25-year-old, but he finally did so with a short video hours later. McGregor responds to Paul’s tweet by throwing a series of punches before yelling “jackass” and turning off his phone.

As McGregor seeks a return to the top of the UFC, about between the two is becoming a possibility. Despite not having won at 155lb since defeating Eddie Alvarez in 2016, he has penciled in his return for the summer and has requested a lightweight title chance. McGregor’s 40-second annihilation of Donald Cerrone in 2020 was his only win in his last four fights.

He still has two fights left on his UFC deal, which means he might face Paul next year. Last year, the social media sensation won three fights, two against Tyron Woodley and one against Ben Askren.

McGregor has only fought one professional boxing battle, losing to Floyd Mayweather, the former five-weight world champion, in 2017. He returned to MMA after that but has only won one of his last four fights, his most recent defeat coming after he shattered his leg in a trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July.

McGregor hopes to resume full sparring next month and to return to the octagon in the summer. Meanwhile, after knocking out former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in their rematch in December, Paul is taking a vacation from boxing.
