Frankie Edgar said he wanted to fight one last time in the octagon at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Frankie Edgar has been approaching retirement for a while now. But, the UFC veteran recently expressed his willingness to face Dominick Cruz. Cruz is the former bantamweight champion, in a fight that will likely be the last of his career.

I’m going to say a name just because I think it’s more of a legacy fight,” Edgar told to ESPN. I know he has a fight coming up and everything. And who knows how it can happen. If it happens, I’m thinking of Dominick Cruz.

I think it could be an interesting fight. But again, he fights against “Chito,” so we’ll see what happens.

Frankie Edgar has been stopped three times in his last four fights. Despite the brutality of the knockouts he has suffered, Edgar feels he still feels good but must retire for his loved ones.

I’ve been floating the idea of retirement since my last fight,” Edgar said. The last two fights didn’t go the way I wanted.

To be honest, I’d fight well forever, but it’s a bit selfish for my family and for the people who care about me. I need to announce my retirement so I can do one last fight and go to the setting sun.

I enjoy this life. It’s not working for me, so leaving will be hard. I will always be in this sport, no matter what.

For now, Frankie Edgar will have to wait if he wants to face Dominick Cruz. Because the latter will face Marlon Vera on August 14 in an important fight at the top of the bantamweight division.
