Joe Joyce returned to boxing against Christian Hammer after a year of a gap for an injury. He takes down Hammer outstandingly in his first battle of reappearing into the ring. After winning the bout against Hammer, Joyce said he is ready to take on Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Oleksandr Usyk.
Joe Joyce is considered one of the best heavyweight boxers of this era. He is rising and making his place among the elite boxer so fast. After defeating many big names in boxing, Joyce is now looking to set a fight with legendary heavyweight fighters Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Oleksandr Usyk.
Last night on a Saturday heavyweight fight in London, Joyce defeated three-time WBO European heavyweight title holder. The win over Hammer placed Joyce at the top of the ranking board.
Joyce put Hammer on the floor many times during the fight. Hammer had a very rough time making a stand against Joyce. Joyce started the fight in his traditional way. He first walked forwards and took three punches on his jaw from opponents to understand the Hammer’s weight and power.
Later, Hammer tried a lot to get back on Joyce but failed every time. He got some chance to land punches on Joyce’s face, but Joyce kept himself out of the Hammer’s reach. In round four, Joyce finally stopped Hammer with a big body shot. Judges announced Joyce the winner of the night through technical knockout. Joyce is now holding a 14-0 (13 KOs) record.
Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, And Oleksandr Usyk are the senior heavyweight boxer of this era. They have provided many thrilling games to the fans. On the hand, Joyce is a rising heavyweight fighter. After defeating Hammer, the Olympics silver medalist winner is now thinking of placing his foot among Fury, Joshua, Usyk, and Wilder’s list.
Joyce was asked on Talk-Sports does he has what it takes to defeat Fury, Joshua, or Usyk. Joyce said, “If the opportunity comes about, I’m ready, and I can raise my game and fight whoever.”
“I’ve had enough experience, and I know I’m ready.”
Joyce’s promoter Frank Warren also believes his fighter can finish off any top 15 heavyweight champions, except Tyson Fury.
Frank Warren said, “I think he would give all of them a real good fight because he’s so durable.”
“Looking at them individually, I think Tyson is head and shoulders above everybody at the moment, and I think Tyson’s boxing brain and speed would pose a problem for Joe.”
Joe Joyce’s next fight:
Joyce was set to fight with New Zealand’s former WBO heavyweight champion, Joseph Parker. But the fight got canceled after Parker signed a deal with rival promoters and broadcaster.
As of now, Joyce is the number one contender for WBO; there is a huge possibility that he will get a chance to fight against the winner of Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk unless Fury decides to fight the winner of Joshua vs Usyk.
