Jules Koundé denies he has asked to leave Barcelona: I’m not going anywhere

Jules Koundé has strongly denied rumours suggesting his departure from Barcelona during the upcoming summer transfer window. He addressed the issue with a decisive tweet. Despite media speculation about his potential exit from Camp Nou. The French defender clarified that he never expressed a desire to leave. He is committed to staying with the Catalan giants.

Jules Koundé reiterated his position as a centre-back and not a right-back, a matter he already raised last summer. Despite receiving offers, such as one from Chelsea, he chose Barcelona. This was where he completed a transfer worth €50 million plus an additional €10 million in variables. However, Kounde has expressed surprise and discomfort at frequently being deployed as a full-back. A position he did not expect to play when signing for the club.

Out of his 27 appearances in La Liga Santander. Kounde has played 18 matches as a full-back and nine as a centre-back. Dissatisfied with this situation, he has voiced his concerns to Barcelona’s manager, Xavi, regarding his disagreement with the decision to use him primarily as a right-back. The player and the manager have held discussions to address the issue.

While Kounde’s tweet aimed to dispel any notion of him leaving, it is evident that there is an internal matter that needs resolution, as acknowledged by the club’s director of football, Mateu Alemany, prior to Barcelona’s match against Real Valladolid.
