If the fight between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira takes place, Khabib Nurmagomedov already has little idea of how it will end.
Khabib Nurmagomedov has been putting pressure on the UFC. He wants Islam Makhachev to fight Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight title.
In mid-May, he had already announced that he wanted Makhachev to face Oliveira in Brazil. As Brazil is the country of the former champion.
Charles Oliveira lost his title at UFC 274 before the show because he missed the weigh-in to be at the weight.
Even though he beat Gaethje with the manner, he didn’t get the lightweight belt back. And the UFC has yet to decide on this title.
Islam Makhachev wants to face Oliveira and is given a date: UFC 281 in Abu Dhabi in October.
But for Khabib, Islam could go and challenge Oliveira in Brazil, and here’s how he would win:
It’s not the organization of Islam or Khabib. It’s the UFC’s organization. They make those decisions. Ok, if they say let’s go to Brazil, we’ll love it.
Come to Brazil, fight with a Brazilian champion and we will finish it with jiu-jitsu… Brazilian.
Khabib’s Prediction
I love it. What do you think? Is it going to be hard? I truly believe that Islam can finish him on the ground. I believe in it.
You’re going to question my judgment because of my relationship with Islam, but who cares? If they say Brazil, OK, we’re going to Brazil. Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo.
I fought once in Sao Paulo against Thiago Tavares. It was a very short fight, a minute and a half, boom. Before the fight, everyone said I was going to die. After the fight, everyone took a picture with me.
It will be the same with Islam and Charles Oliveira.
For now, we do not yet know what the UFC will decide. But what is certain is that Charles Oliveira does not have Islam in his sights.
Last week, he said he would rather face Conor McGregor than Islam Makhachev for his next fight. It’s just a matter of money for him.
Do you think the UFC will host this Makhachev vs. Oliveira fight in Brazil?
