Liton Mushfiq pair are always killer pair in Bangladesh cricket team. They never failed to dissatisfy the fans and their teammates. They both are enough to slay any of the opponent’s team. And once again we Liton and Mushfiq proved that.

After the third wicket, they started to create magic with their bats. The pair becomes unstoppable and seizes the victory from the hand of Afghan. The Afghan team surely wasn’t expected this humiliating loss. Though they tried their best to protect themselves unfortunately all of their bowlers failed to take the wicket of Liton and Mushfiq. And that day Liton and Mushfiq creates a set of records.

In the first match, Afif Hossain and Mehedy Hasan broke some of the records in the seventh wickets. And then again in the second match, Liton and Mushfiq create couples of record. Surely Bangladesh is now in great form. Though at first Bangladesh conditions were very poor at the beginning later they raise like the tiger.

Bangladesh total scored 306 runs and Liton Mushfiq both made 202 runs. And in the end, Bangladesh won the game by 88 runs. Against Afghanistan, it’s Bangladesh’s third-biggest victory by runs. The match broke some other records too. Let’s see.

1. Non-Stop six wins:

Bangladesh last lost against England in two days one day series in their own field in 2016. And since then they won 6 series in a row.

2. The best performance:

Liton-Mushfiqur duo’s 202 runs are Bangladesh’s highest for the third wicket. Mushfiqur was also the previous highest pair. Mushfiqur’s partnership with Tamim Iqbal in Mirpur against Pakistan in 2015 was 178 runs. Batting first, Bangladesh scored 329 runs, winning by 79 runs.

Overall, this is the fifth time in ODIs that a Bangladeshi pair has scored 200 runs. Bangladesh’s highest pair in this edition is Liton and Tamim. The two had scored 292 runs for the first wicket against Zimbabwe in Sylhet in March 2020.

3. The fastest record:

Liton Das was dismissed at the beginning of the previous match, today it is as if he is back in ‘Swarup’. He played an innings of 136 off 126 balls. This is Liton’s second century in the last five matches, the fifth in all his career. Liton played his 49th innings in his ODI career today.

A total of four people have five or more centuries for Bangladesh. However, Liton got the fifth century in the fastest time of the innings. It took Shakib Al Hasan 93 innings to get five centuries in ODIs, Tamim Iqbal took 141 innings, Mushfiqur took 163 innings.

4. Earn 13000 runs:

He stopped 14 runs away from a century, but Mushfiqur Rahim has reached the milestone. He became the second Bangladeshi batsman to complete 13,000 runs in international cricket. After the second ODI, his score is 13008. At the top of the list is Tamim Iqbal, who has 14,175 runs. Shakib Al Hasan is close to 13,000, his score is 12,553 after the second ODI.

For the second time in an ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, a score of 300 runs was seen. The first score of 300 came in 2006, with Sri Lanka batting first against Bangladesh at 309 for 7.

6. Sakib’s home soil 162:

Glenn McGrath touched the previous day with 2 wickets. Today, with 2 more wickets, the Bangladesh left-arm spinner surpassed him in the list of most wickets on home soil. Shakib’s wicket on home soil is now 162. At the top of the list is South Africa’s Shaun Pollock (193). Australia’s Brett Lee then took 169 wickets.

7. 33 runs came from extras:

Today, The Afghanistan bowlers made 18 wide, 11 runs came from leg byes, 4 more runs from the byes. In all, 33 runs came from extras. Afghanistan has more excesses in innings in history and twice – 39 extras came in Cardiff against Sri Lanka in 2019 in Afghanistan’s bowling innings. In a match against Canada in 2010, Afghanistan conceded 34 extra runs.
