Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan has been ruled out of the first Test against Sri Lanka after fracturing his right-hand little finger while fielding for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club during their Dhaka Premier League match on Sunday.
Bangladesh received a huge blow ahead of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka as their key off-spinning all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been ruled out from the opener of the two Tests due to a finger strain.
BCB physician Manzur Hossain Chowdhury confirmed surprise sports that he is quite unable to play in the first while doubtful in the series concluder as well.
‘Mehidy has been ruled out of the first test against Sri Lanka as he has dislocated his right hand’s little finger and there is also a slight fracture in the finger.’
‘We are not confirmed that he is going to play in the second Test. Let’s see.’
It was learned that another off-spinner of Bangladesh Nayeem Hasan is likely to replace Mehidy Hasan in the Test squad.
Sri Lanka is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on May 8 to play a two-match Test series against the hosts with the first Test starting at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on May 15 followed by the second Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on May 23.
