The New York City Marathon 2021 will take place on Sunday, November 7. This is the 50th edition of this event which was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NYC Marathon race will start in five waves and three starting areas. The racers will need to wear masks in the starting areas. 33,000 runners will participate in this year’s competition. The NYC Marathon held a virtual race last October, which bought 16,000 participants from 108 countries.

NYC Marathon 2021 Route:

The racers will have to complete a 26.2-mile route to complete the marathon. They will have to race through the five boroughs of New York City. The race will begin at the Verrazzano Bridge. Then the racers will have to pass through Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx.  The race will finish in Central Park. The runners will use three different courses between the start and mile 8 because of health and safety concerns. Each of the courses will be right by each other.

How to watch the NYC Marathon Live on TV?

ESPN2 and ESPN3 will broadcast the NYC Marathon live for the fans of the US. The live coverage will begin at 8.30 a.m. ET. It will continue till 11.30. a.m. ET.

ESPN3 will cover the race until 1.20 pm ET. They will also have a live camera shot of the finish line.

WABC-TV will broadcast the marathon locally in New York. You will need a cable TV connection to watch the marathon there. Contact your service provider if you are out of their coverage.

Prize Money:

The total prize money for the 2021 NYC Marathon is $534,000. The amount is divided equally between the men and women finalists.

The prize money of the USA division is $116,000, New York Road Runners’ Division is $38,000, Master’s Division is $12.000  and Wheelchair Division is $155,000.
