Jai Opetaia vs Mairis Briedis

Jai Opetaia is confident he has the skills to take out IBF and Ring Magazine cruiserweight champion Mairis Briedis in their title bout tonight on the Gold Coast. Here you will know Opetaia vs Briedis live stream, start time, fight card, and more.

Preview:

“I believe I can match it with him when it matters, definitely,” Opetaia told reporters after the weigh-in.

“He’s had some great fighters, and he’s had a great legacy.

“But I truly believe his legacy ends here, and mine starts.”

The Queensland southpaw, the youngest ever to represent his country in boxing at an Olympic Games, thinks his fighting style is the difference between himself and the previous challengers vanquished by Briedis.

“He definitely hasn’t fought a boxer like me, I believe,” Opetaia told reporters after Thursday’s press conference.

“He’s fought some great fighters, but he’s been at the top because he’s been the only cruiserweight with some decent movement and a bit of hand movement. All the other ones are just power punchers.

“He got out-boxed by (Oleksander) Usyk (in his only professional loss), but all the other ones were heavy hitters; they were power punchers.

“But that’s not our game plan. We play the game; it’s a chess match in there.”

In the co-main event, fan-favorite Issac Hardman – who is looking to bounce back following his first career loss at the hands of Michael Zerafa in April – will face off against fellow middleweight Beau Hartas in what is sure to be an exciting battle.
