Rafael dos Anjos will face Rafael Fiziev in the UFC Vegas 58 main event this weekend. The winner of this fight will surely have the opportunity to access a fight for the title.
Rafael dos Anjos said he would be very interested in a fight against Charles Oliveira.
The lightweight category is probably the highest in the UFC and has no shortage of contenders at the top.
He lacks a champion in the division as Brazil’s Charles Oliveira was stripped of his title after missing his weigh-in at UFC 274.
If Dos Anjos were to emerge victorious in his fight against Fiziev, he would be interested in a fight for the title.
In an interview with MMAFighting, the world number 7 spoke of a potential fight against Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira.
The contender for the category title praised the now-former defending champion. Also mentioned his previous defeats.
The Brazilian also criticized Charles Oliveira’s last opponents for their level.
Rafael dos Anjos says,
“Charles Oliveira has a good mental attitude and is very confident. But we all know that he was knocked out in his fights and dropped out several times. But he is in his moment. He is very confident. He is on a good winning streak.”
Rafael Dos Anjos continued: “If you see when he put [Dustin] Poirier on the ground, [Poirier] just grabbed him and tried to buy time. It looked like he was desperate when he was on the ground.
I’m better on the ground. I am a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I know how to control my wrist and be calm on the ground.
[Justin] Gaethje gave his back right away. Once you’re in the scrambles and these guys give their back right away, that’s where Charles is good.
If the experienced Rafael dos Anjos overcomes the 10th in the lightweight ranking in the person of Rafael Fiziev this weekend. It would not be impossible to see him face Oliveira in the future.
Head to UFC Vegas 58 for this clash between two formidable lightweights.
