Vitali Klitschko and his brother, Wladimir Klitschko, also a former World Heavyweight champion, fight through the days and nights in Kyiv, Ukraine, against Russian Military Forces bombing and shelling the ground.
This weekend may be their last weekend alive. Russian forces have taken the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
Russian forces are currently encircling Kiev, Ukraine, where Dr. Vitali Klitschko, the city’s mayor. He is serving in the Ukrainian Army Reserve alongside his brother Wladimir Klitschko in the city’s defense.
The Klitschko Brothers and current World Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk could all perish on the battlefield tonight. There are no words to justify the patriotism of these three current or past world heavyweight champions.
Vitali Klitschko’s gained a reputation for being fearless in politics since retiring from boxing in 2013. The battlefield between Ukraine and the Russian Federation is a very different ring without ring ropes. Klitschko may soon find himself trapped in a corner from which he cannot escape.
Dr. Vitali Klitschko may have signed his own death certificate. This is because Vitali has been outspoken in his condemnation of the Russian Federation and its leader Vladimir Putin during street rallies. The Klitschko Brothers will perish if they stay and fight and Kyiv is surrounded and attacked in a final Russian invasion.
“The Ukrainian people are strong. And it will remain true to itself in this terrible ordeal. A people longing for sovereignty and peace. A people who consider the Russian people their brothers,” he wrote in a post on Thursday.
Vitali Klitschko said, “It knows that they basically do not want this war. The Ukrainian people have chosen democracy. But democracy is a fragile regime. Democracy cannot defend itself; it needs the will of the citizens, the commitment of everyone. Basically, there is no democracy without democrats. I believe in Ukraine, I believe in my country and I believe in my people,”
“Shots and explosions are ringing out in some neighborhoods saboteurs have already entered Kyiv. The enemy wants to put the capital on its knees and destroy us,”
One of the three heavyweight champions of the past and present can die within the next few days, according to the chances. But they have no intention of leaving their nation. If it happens, the fallen champions will be regarded as heroes in their home countries.
